Sneak Peek Of A Great Release In The Works

Postby Chris on Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:48 pm

SSB Resins sent me an email with some great news. But you will just have to wander on over to the main page to see it. :D

Cruel I know, but got to get some traffic on the other part of the site to when I actually put something new up.

OH, My! :o that is some impressive work! Does he say if it will be packaged as a kit with the pieces laid out the way they show?

He did not say Charlie, I will see if I can find out though. If it is like his other trucks, the bodies have been pretty much one piece with the additional smaller detail parts being separate.

Charlie, I have the reply from Jamie. He said it will be a one piece casting like the other bodies with the difference being that this one will be thicker to allow continuous casting without warping.

I suppose all of those parts would mean a lot of casting but I'll bet to do that in mostly a one piece body is going to take some real work! Lots of little ins and outs.

He has done a great job previously on the two Seagraves, ambulances and rescue truck so I have full faith in him on this one as well!

All I can say is that I bought one of SSB's Ambulance kits and I couldn't believe the way it was packaged. Every little item was in it's own little plastic bag with header card telling what it was. It must have taken as long to package up as it did to cast it. I was VERY pleased and impressed, I'd sure buy from him again.

That was my thought when I got the LA squad and ambulance. I expected them to be nice, but found them better than I expected when they actually arrived.

350.00 bucks plus shipping. That's a little steep IMO.

Does anyone know if he gives discounts for members of the fire house here??

$350 dollars is indeed ALOT of money! However you have to realize you are not buying an AMT Ladder kit. This is a first class resin kit which includes everything you need to build that kit. Jamies work is first rate. You also have to appreciate the amount of work involoved in producing a kit of this size. I know for alot of us $350 dollars isn't feesable....i know its not for me right now, but I plan on saving up for it as I know its a great addition to my collection.

When you consider that there are 1/35 scale armored car resin kits that would fit in the cab of this truck and have a fraction of the details and sell for 150 - 200, it is a pretty good deal.

I am not denying that Jamie has put a lot of work into the casting, molding, planning, etc to put this together. I just think that 350 right out of the box is a little high on the price.

I am hoping for the price to come down before I will even think about buying one.

Maybe we could do a group buy to get the price down if Jamie would do something like that.
