Here's one of me from our department website:

http://www.glynncountyfiredept.org/imag ... 0_0067.jpg

I'm the one in the turnout coat; talking to the engineer of the first-in engine at a recent fire we had in an auto repair shop...it was her first time pumping at a commercial fire.

I know what you mean, a couple years ago I started getting kids on the engine that were born the year I graduated high school. I used to consider people whippersnappers if they were born after Star Wars came out, now I'm lucky if they know there was a Star Wars movie in the 70's. :o

About 1/3 of my department is younger than my son :o He's 29. That makes me feel old until we get to a fire and they look to me for guidance. Then I feel twice as old. :)

Yeah, but you should try having one of those "kids" stab you in theback for a position they are not qualified for (he needs 5 more classes to qualify), and it's given to them! It's really making me think about getting out.

R.H. I've had that done to me, Then the little suckass sent an E-mail to the chief saying he felt I was not qualified to be on the ladder truck. It took him by surprise when I thanked him at rollcall for making my job easier. All I have to do now is drive the engine. Same pay and Bennies, less work!

I didn't really feel my age, until 2 years ago, when a kid that sat on my knee riding the truck in parades, was promoted to Chief!! But at least he's a darn good guy & earned it. Now the town is trying to hose him - politics - SO SAD!!

Delt with this crap too. Satisfaction is watching some "glory hog" run out, leaving us fossils, because it's "TOO HOT & SMOKEY". he he he he he

Hang in there R H, don't let some little twit run you away from something you obviously love!! 1 day it'll bite the fool on his rear & hopefully no innocent people will be harmed by his ego & lack of experience.

Stepping off my soap box now. Sorry about ranting.

Well, here I am in all my pudgy glory (camera adds pounds remember).

This was taken at one of our many fire prevention/public relations outings.

I figured with all the new members we've gained, it was time to get this going again. I take no responsability for exploding computer monitors or brain damage from looking at my photo. Guess which photo was taken 2/08 & which was taken 1977  .
