1954 Maxim is now in service

Postby chariots of fire on Fri Mar 17, 2017 11:52 am

After several months of work the "new" 1954 Maxim is now ready for duty. It's had its moments  when things just would not go right but happily :D with a little patience and determination they worked out ok. The truck will take its place along side the 1955 Maxim aerial and 1961 "S" model pumper.

I'm so impressed with the detail Charlie. Your craftmanship is a good bench mark for those striving for the perfect model.

Cheers from Robbo.

The pumper and the aerial are both beautiful pieces. You set the bar very high.

I agree, Both Engines And the Ladder are Beautiful pieces!!
Question though on the Rotators on the Ladder
The Domes Look Yellow
Are they Suppose to be Amber or Clear??
I believe I see Red ans Clear (white) lenses on the Rotator Lamps
so would think them Clear but Yellowing with age.
Been curious forever, but Picture in the Header here does not enlarge
so could not test mt theory

Dan: that ladder is more than 20 years old and the lenses have yellowed with time. Originally I had some taller tires that were very soft. Think they came from an Italeri kit. The ultimately cracked and had to be replaced. Other than that the model is exactly as it was originally built a LOOOONG time ago.

Just a suggestion. Make your avatar a bit smaller and it won't hide some of your message.
