Posting Pics 101

To post pictures, you have to host them somewhere else that allows hotlinking, in other words somewhere that lets you show the image here while they have it on their server.

The best place to host them is photobucket.com , it is free and they allow you to host a ton of pictures. They also make it real easy to put the images in your post. After you upload the pictures you will see this under your image thumbnail.

Image

Just click inside the box on the bottom and the tag will be automatically copied. Then just switch over to your post here and paste it in the text box. Hit submit and your post will have the picture in it. Easy as can be. :D

Now if hosting any where other than Photobucket, just click on the Img button in the tool bar above the posting box. Something like this will appear Just copy and paste the link to the pic between the ][ , just make sure that it ends in a photo extension such as .jpg, .gif, .png not .html or .htm . If you still have any questions , just ask.

Don't know why. Should be just the same as it was before. Same tags and all.

Chris I changed my board back to the Acid text and the photo shows up great... But on the Carbon board it cut it off. I dont know :| must be something with the other Board set up.. can you get it figured out. or maby have the board set so it resizes the photos automaticly... like on the model cars mag board.

I changed back to Acid Text for my eyes. The other looked cool, but my peepers couldn't hang with it.

Sweet rollback Cargo!!

Nice van Chris. Is it the old IMC or a Jimmy Flintstone?

Chris, I'm not sure why they are not resizing , I'll see if that is something needs to be turned on or if it is a mod that needs to be installed. If I turn on the feature though that sets a limit for pic size, anything bigger apparently won't even show up. One of the little things that I am still learning myself.

Chris, this will really cut down on what I post. I am still on pokey dial-up, with molassas connection rates (and the phone co. doesn't give a hoot). With that said, I do not have time to load my pictures to another site to link them over here. Sorry. Now I am missing the old board. :( It's going to be a couple of months before I get any kind of high speed (only one available here is cable, and it's only 1.8M download). In the summer months, I usually stay at a place that has high-speed cable(thier slowest is 6M).

Chris,

I set up an album in photobucket, I followed your directions, but it won't let cut and paste the pictures. Any suggestions. Thanks Dave

P.S. The only good way to use a computer is with a 45 caliber in hand.

I have since figured out that the auto copy works if Java is enabled on your computer. If not, then you have to do it the manual way.

Rob, posting pics is the same way as it was on the old forum. Even the forum code used.

Cargostar, if you're trying to post direct from your hard drive, you can't anymore. The new board cannot support it.

Can you post to the old board, and then move it here?
