Meriden Fire Fest

Postby chariots of fire on Sun Jul 15, 2012 11:05 pm

Went to Meriden, Ct on Saturday to the Meriden Fire Fest sponsored by the Conn. Fire Photog. Assn. Mike Quinn was host and did a great job of setting things up for us. The venue was great with good access to the display room. There were eats across the street which was good.
Got to see some old friends that I had not seen in a long time and made some new ones.
I am amazed at the kit bashing some of these guys do with Code 3 stuff. I'm still chicken to cut mine apart. The work they do with them is outstanding.
One vendor was selling the Monogram Macks for $10 each which is a good price so I picked one up for more parts.
In addition the Fire Photogs put on a continuous video of fires and apparatus around the Connecticut area. Some real neat shots.
Maybe next year some of you will be able to make the trek to CT and see Mike and some of us there.

Believe it or not I didn't take any! I was having a good time inside and with the heat it wasn't a lot of fun to be outside!

I can help with some pics. :) A big thanks as always to Charlie...and all the other model guys...for being a big part of the show. With FireHouse Expo's model show unfortunately all but a memory, perhaps some of you that normally head there and come to Meriden next year instead.

And for those who did venture out into the heat, bright sunshine and nearly 30 different emergency vehicles were on display at various times during the day.

Plus a great "breast cancer awareness" themed ambulance and new this year classic police cars. A little something for everyone!
