I'm glad I'm old enough to be able to read what the future was going to look like as it was written 40 years ago! With all of the glowing credits to ALF that were written with the contest ALF is now relegated to history and fire fighting really has not changed that much. There is the IC System and a few things are different but when the fit hits the shan it is still put the wet stuff on the red stuff! Apparatus has changed a lot since the '70's but some in a way is a step backward. In an attempt to make things "simple" it has only gotten more complicated. Just look at printed circuitry and what it can do to the operation of a piece of apparatus if it decides to malfunction. Today the idea of a manual transmission or gate valves that need to be opened and closed by hand are laughed at. Gadgetry is ok for some things but when it comes to functionality, something that it reliable under all cirmstances is much better.
Just figgered I'd rant a little bit since I'm in that modeling funk where I don't have the juices flowing right now!
