Back in May of 2010, Chris appointed me as the Spammer Slayer after I started reporting new registrants that I suspected as spammers to him. Today, I just killed off my 1,500th spammer that has either attempted to or registered on this site.
Fortunately for me, spammers are so stupid, they make morons look like MENSA members. I'm not going to post my criteria for identifying the potential spammers just in case one of them might be able to read (I know, a real stretch) and sees this and rub their two functioning brain cells together to assemble a cognitive thought.
Most get caught in the initial registration phase because they don't use a valid e-mail address to confirm their registration. Unfortunately, some spammers do get through, but they don't last long. You may see some of these spammers show up at the bottom of the screen as a new member, and they usually put a link to their spam website. I usually check in several times a day and "take ot the trash" if I find any. Fortunately, Chris has everyone's first posts moderated so they have to be approved before they get to the board for you to see. This keeps the board free of messages unrelated to our hobby and assures them of a rapid trip to the trash can.
While I'm not currently able to do any emergency vehicle model building or reply to posts often, I still visit often to enjoy seeing the work you guys are doing. I do my part to keep this site enjoyable for us.
