Hello from the cornfields of Illinois

Postby fenix107 on Fri Nov 25, 2016 11:57 am

Good morning everyone! I joined a little while ago but am just sitting down this morning to do some things I've meant to do.

I am a getting back into building models and starting off my scratch building "legacy" after becoming disabled with a spinal cord injury after 28 years of firefighting and EMS work. I was able to enjoy all aspects of the fire service and due to the size of our department, had to be on all of the special teams. My time as a medic was fun, sad, exhausting and all of the above.

Now it's time to have some different fun and look, learn and try new things. I cannot believe the talent that I have seen on this site. I only hope I can produce some things as good as I have seen. I enjoy the passion and willingness to share on this site. It makes me feel like part of a team again.

Here's to meeting new people, building new and exciting projects and to all, a safe and happy holiday season.

Glad you're back! I "retired" from being a call firefighter and Station Captain 16 years ago after more than 40 years of service. It has been a blessing to be on this board with so many others who are interested in the fire service and EMS. One of the things I have enjoyed most is being able to feel like I am still a part of it by building model fire apparatus and sharing with others on this board. I hope you find the same enjoyment I have found.

Stars at night. You see them due to the light traveling from them. What you see is the stars past. If you are seeing a star that's 6,000 yrs ago. Imagine somebody on that star looking at us. They'd be seeing us as 6,000 yrs ago. Which of those two is now?
