Old fire apparatus modeler coming home...
My name is Larry Mattingly and currently live in Johnstown, PA.
Along with Greg Smith, we founded the Great Lakes Model Fire Apparatus Association (GLMFAA) in the mid-80s and sponsored mini-musters in several states.
I authored the original Model Firehose column in * the magazine that won't allow mentioning other sites * magazine.
I served in the Latrobe, PA VFD, Hook and Ladder Company #2.
Happy to be aboard...

Welcome aboard Larry! When you had that old SAE column and announced the Great Lakes Model Muster at the old Maumee Civic Center I wrote to you and inquired about it. That's where I met you and Greg for the first time. Do you still have that heavy rescue model with all of the equipment on display??

Stars at night. You see them due to the light traveling from them. What you see is the stars past. If you are seeing a star that's 6,000 yrs ago. Imagine somebody on that star looking at us. They'd be seeing us as 6,000 yrs ago. Which of those two is now?

Yep... Still have all of dads models in storage.
I remember when you came to one of our musters the first time. The quality of your work was breath taking...

Hey Greg

You are how I found the site... LOL Dave Kittey said someone told him that you and George Finnerty had passed away. I contacted Rich Middelkauff on a FB model site. He said you aren't on FB , but hang out here.

I miss the old days, and the fun we had traveling and displaying models. In retrospect I should have never pulled back, but when dad passed away, it took something out of it.

My health isn't great, but Kittey mentioned about coming to Toledo one more time...

That would be great!

See what you can do...

I was able to get on the thread (some of it) that you did about the old musters. We did put on a show... LOL

Was thinking about some of the musters we did. A few stand out... the one in Harrisburg in the hotel for the National SPAMFAA convention, and the one in Washington in the shadow of the Washington monument come to mind...

It's a long drive for me but if a Muster can be put together I would love to participate. Got a model or two I could bring along! ;)

Would be great to see you again Charlie...

Dave Kittey has agreed to come with me, so we hope to be there ... God willing.

I haven't looked at my models in years, but we'll put something together!
