ALF 700 series

Postby 19ENGINE on Tue Apr 08, 2014 5:03 pm

Does anyone know where I could get a American La France 700 series cab in 1/24 or 1/25 scale? Thank you

I believe member "Cargostar" was working on one to cast and sell,
But, have not heard any updates on it for a while.

I have a semi-compoleted 700 series master that was done by Tom Coolidge. It's not ready for casting by any means but with some work perhaps it could be. I'll take some pix and post them. Maybe a project for the future! ;)

Charlie,
Not clear if you are intending to do the completion? I know that that has been on my list for decades! Not only is it my favorite cab, but my hometown ran a '53 700 Series. I would be interested in several! I have been working on one off and on for a while. Just not happy with the result thus far...

Thanks for the info. I would be interested in one should they ever be completed. I know it can be time consuming work but it will be worth it in the end

Here's a couple I did some years ago starting with the ALF 1000 series cabs.

Very nicely done! Tom's master was to be a curbside with only a minimum of detail so that the castings could be custom built. I will dig it out and see what would have to be done.

Fantastic builds John! I love the detail AND especially the ladder truck!

Those are very nice,
I think a simple casting would be best to let the modeled decide on what model which would could be from 700,800 and even the 8.5's with the quad light packages

Has anyone tried the ALF convertible offered by 3 inches under on eBay? I have one for use modifying the AMT kit. With some good reshaping, it might work for a 700 or 800 series.
The kit is designed to convert any of the three the AMT 1/25 scale American LaFrance fire truck kits into an open cab fire truck. The kit includes:
1 Cab
1 Beacon mounting bracket
1 Red Federal Model 17D beacon
2 Sunvisors
2 Side windows

This has been included in my AMT ALF Century Series engine for future conversion to a convertible.
